For candidates

The practice room

This is the same editor and whiteboard you will use in your interview. Try them here first. Nothing on this page is saved, and nobody can see it.

The code editor

The interview’s own editor, for short programs rather than whole projects. Pick a language, type, and try Run and Run tests: each test comes back marked pass or fail. Here they work 2 times a minute; in the interview, as often as you need. In the interview your interviewer sees your code as you type it.
How Run tests works: your solution and your tests file run together, and each test comes back on its own line, marked pass or fail. Tests run with the language’s usual test tool. The tests file starts with two examples, here and in the interview; you replace them with your own.
Practice only: nobody sees this and nothing is kept. Run and Run tests work 2 times a minute here; in the interview, as often as you need.

The whiteboard

Draw, write and move things around. In the interview your interviewer sees your board as you draw. Your board is yours to draw on; your interviewer has a board of their own, shown under yours if they sketch something for you.

Your camera and microphone

The interview call runs in your browser. Check it can use your camera and microphone, so the permission prompt does not take the first minutes of your interview.
Nothing is recorded: the picture stays on this page and stops when you press Stop or leave.
In the interview itself, no audio or video is kept either. Your interviewer may take snapshots — still images of the call — at any point during it. They are kept with your interview record, which only the hiring team for this role sees, and you can ask CompileCareers, which runs this page, for a copy or to delete them. Our privacy policy says how.
